The Invoice Template: A Brief Guide

After work has been completed and service has been provided, it is invoice time. The invoice shows the client, how much money has to be paid. An invoice is sent to the customer, who has used services of a particular company. Making an invoice is easy and can be customized as well.

Record the dealings with comments and date. The business model must be easy. All the billing detail must be listed.

Also, tax information is furnished. Both the customer and company should know about the Goods and Service Tax. An invoice is an integral portion of every business, it is necessary to get it right.

The invoice includes critical portion of information, if Goods and Service Tax or GST is involved. The invoice includes:
  • The name of the enterprise
  • The date of the invoice
  • The business number is needed. It is also called GST registration number
  • The name of the customer
  • The description of goods and services delivered
  • The total amount outstanding
  • The terms and conditions
  • The inclusion of GST and HST, if subject to inclusion
  • If the service is applicable to PST, then indicate that as well

How an invoice does look like? The invoice used for business GST and PST are quite similar. The invoice for the HST is different.
The template of the invoice is available all over the internet and it can be formatted according to your needs.
The initial address on the invoice template is the business address and the next address is that of the customer, who has made use of your services.
A statement is written at the bottom of the invoice saying that payment is to be paid within thirty days. Some invoices may say Payable Upon Receipt. This is an incorrect approach and asking for trouble. The customer can receive the invoice after a particular amount of time, which is undetermined.

Use a particular date of payment submission and this will assist in preventing fund collection problems.

The invoices are easier to write, as there areaccountingsoftwares available. There are numerous accounting software’s in operation for large and big businesses.

They can be employed for making invoices because invoice templates are built in. Keeping tax tabs and calculating tax is very easy too.

Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word are widely used for making an invoice template. These twosoftwares are very convenient and reliable in this regard. I've mentioned this before in my "how to create perfect cv" post.
