this weekend.

{ source + how to = xo in my room

{ how to make t's feel vintage + how to = glitter guide }

this weekend/

I made THIS roast beef and cooked it to an eternal temp of 135 like the recipe says /// cut into it and I am fairly certain it was still mooing.? epic fail. Don't worry the hubs came to rescue and finished cooking it on the grill. (thanks hubs)

I also made THIS coleslaw recipe and added blue cheese. This was not an epic fail, it was oh so good.

Harvey was let out of captivity, and even got to sleep upstairs.

Elisabeth read the entire book of  Go, Dog, Go. She is such a good little reader. I am so proud.

Lyla was/is teething. Poor thing. She is miserable, and cranky, and not napping.

The hubs rocked THIS song at worship, and it has been stuck in my head ever since.

We went to a baptism on Sunday, Elisabeth and Jude watched. Afterwards Jude told me, "Mom.? I love Jesus, BUT I don't want to put my head under that water." he may or may not have made me laugh.

p.s. yesterday it was 70+ degrees in January!? don't be jealous though tonight we will be getting snow...

p.s.s. don't forget to enter my book giveaway

she. // birthday girl.

she is one year older. she is 6.  she loves jesus.  she loves gum and staying up late. she loves to build snowman, and would swim all day long if you let her. she started school this year, and lost her two front teeth. she is a free spirit. she spins and she sways to whatever song plays. she carries all her joy and sadness in her eyes. she loves snacks. she loves princesses and "bun-bun". she is kind. she is a great sister. she doesn't like potatoes in any shape or form, including french fries. she loves to draw, and color, and paint, and sing. she is our "princerella". she has rosy cheeks. she is a red head. she is my buddy and daddy's sweetheart. she perfectly happy staying in her pj's all day long. she almost never gets called elisabeth by jude only "sissy". she is a champion snuggler. she loves movies and the color pink.

this girl and school.

see this girl?
she goes back to school tomorrow.
after 17 wonderful days at home.

It wouldn't really be that big of a deal except, about 2 weeks before Christmas, she decided she didn't want to go to school anymore. So for two long weeks I sent her, crying.every.single.morning. Talk about ripping your heart out, and then stomping on it. It was awful. I talked with her teacher to make sure all was ok in class, and it was, and is. She just misses home, and her family.

Has anyone had to deal with this? any tips?

We talk about it, and more importantly pray every morning before school. But still, she is sad.

With all that aside today we are going to enjoy our last day of winter break.! We are going to play princesses, and barbies, and have a tea party. Elisabeth may or may not have talked me into watching THIS movie. We own it and I have still never seen the whole thing (i may or may not have fallen alseep, both times.)

p.s for "snow" as seen in the princess photo above just mix water and dish soap in a blender or food processor/// it is that simple/// elisabeth and jude both loved it!

diy ornaments.

remember THIS post? I made those cinnamon ornaments with Elisabeth. They were a hit!  Jude loved it too, which is always a bonus. If you decide to make them, make sure they are thick. oh. and they smell ah-maz-ing.!.!

I am in charge of Elisabeth's class party and I was looking for a craft. I came across THIS via pinterest. I thought I would try it out and do a trail run pre-class party. EPIC FAIL. has anyone used this recipe before? seriously, it was a mess and looked like a huge white glob.

So I just went back to the good 'ol salt dough recipe. you will need:

2 cups of flour /1 cup of salt/ 3/4 cup of water (add a little more water is dough is clumpy) /roll out dough and cut with cookie cutters/ poke holes for hanging/ makes sure holes are big enough to fit string through/ bake at 200 for 20 mins then flip and bake for 10 mins./ when finished you can paint or color with marker/ use glitter and what ever other decor you want/ you can even add glitter prior to baking/

cost: less than $1.00 and yeilds about 20-30 ornaments.
